Estate Disputes
There can be occasions where, no matter how hard you try or how much planning you've done, beneficiaries just won't agree. Possibly this is the result of an old, long simmering family dispute. Or perhaps someone is getting bad advice from a "helpful" friend or spouse.
Whatever the cause, a dispute among family members in an estate administration is a devastating experience for families, pulling them apart and destroying relationships for years. Often, the damage can never be undone. If a family business is part of the estate, the ensuing battle can be especially difficult and prolonged, and the damage can extend to employees, suppliers, and other innocent third parties.
As estate lawyers, our goal is to put our expertise and experience to work to prevent these disputes from happening in the first place. By careful planning, attention to detail, and the awareness of potential landmines that may exist in your circumstances, we do our utmost to protect your estate plan from attack.
We advise beneficiaries who may be dissatisfied with the actions of an Estate Trustee in an administration, or who may question whether the testator had the mental capacity to make his or her will when it was done.
At Keyser Mason Ball, LLP we try to avoid and settle disputes. But when they do happen, we have experienced estate litigation counsel with the expertise to resolve or, if necessary, litigate your estate dispute.
