Focus of Practice

Gurlal Kler is building his practice in the areas of construction law, shareholder remedies, commercial tenancies disputes, professional liability, franchise law, debtor/creditor disputes, condominium law, alternative dispute resolution and general civil litigation. He has represented clients at all levels of Court including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court of Ontario and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Engagements Include

• Advancing and defending Lien, Trust, Bond and Contract claims in relation to construction law disputes;
• Advising and representing clients in debtor/creditor disputes: providing sound cost-effective solutions from negotiating settlements to formal litigation proceedings including trial;
• Representing individuals and corporations in relation to commercial tenancies disputes, professional negligence, breach of contract, and other commercial and civil litigation matters;

Recent Experience

• February 2011 – obtained judgment for a creditor for the full amount of its claim plus costs on a substantial indemnity basis in relation to a collections matter;
• May 2011 – successfully enforced a judgment and recovered $125,000.00 for a creditor against a debtor that had attempted to delay creditors by dissipating its assets;
