Wes is a commercial litigator and experienced lawyer.
Wes’ client base is comprised of closely held owner operated companies ranging from family owned businesses to large multi jurisdictional operations. Wes has a particular interest in resolving business disputes for individuals who have significant personal investment in the outcome of the proceedings.
Wes’ interests include employment and workplace litigation, and his clients afford him wide ranging experience in these areas. He routinely deals with shareholder disputes and oppression remedy proceedings, injunctions, construction liens, contract disputes, and other commercial litigation. Wes also advises clients in estate litigation matters. He prides himself on his ability to give strategic advice on how to manage volatile situations to maximize leverage if and when litigation commences.
Because of business size and structure, formal risk management policies and resources are not always practical. To this end Wes acts as the first line of strategic defense, and the heart of his practice is a focus to minimize cost and distracted energies, and maximize business continuity and leadership focus. When managing disputes, Wes never loses sight of the long term, which allows him to able to provide precautionary strategies that may involve steps in diplomacy before the matter turns litigious.
- Successfully litigated an oppression remedy proceedings allowing his client, a minority financial partner, to take over a business from an oppressive majority partner;
- Secured a client’s premises and operations through injunctive relief from the client’s former President who had been running a competing business on the client’s premises.
- Acted as lead counsel on a major construction lien proceeding in the automotive industry involving over thirty lien claimants and dozens of different liens.
