Trade-mark Appeal Before the Supreme Court of Canada
For the first time since 2006, the Supreme Court of Canada ("SCC") has been called upon to clarify on important trade-mark law principles. The Supreme Court of Canada has granted leave to hear an appeal from the Federal Court of Appeal (“FCA”) decision in Masterpiece Inc v Alavida Lifestyles Inc. (2009 FCA 290). Although this case is centered on a Section 57 expungement application, the real issue before the SCC is whether a likelihood of confusion between two trade-marks can exist if the trade-marks are not already in competition in the same geographical area.

REACH !
A Community Program
Through REACH ! we have committed our time to helping build student success in our community. As a part of our commitment we have partnered with Nahani Way Public School and Peel Youth Village. Members of our firm have volunteered their time to work with these groups in assisting to lay down a foundation that will lead to solid academic achievements. Our volunteers regularly attend at Nahani Way Public School where we read one-to-one with junior kindergarten children as a part of the Gift of Reading Program. We have also partnered with Peel Youth Village and attend every Tuesday at the Breakfast Program where we serve a nutritious breakfast for the children before they board their bus for school and also attend the Homework Club every Tuesday after school where we provide assistance as needed to the children with their homework.
