Madeleine Thackray

Madeleine is an Associate at KMB Law and a member of the Franchise, Retail, & Distribution and Corporate/Commercial practice groups. She began her legal career at KMB as a summer student in 2022 and returned as an articling student in 2023.

Madeleine’s practice in the Franchise, Retail & Distribution group involves assisting in preparing franchise agreements, drafting disclosure agreements, advising clients on their regulatory obligations, preparing distribution and licensing agreements, and assisting with the purchase and resale of franchised businesses and franchise systems.

Her practice in corporate and commercial matters includes share and asset purchase transactions, shareholder agreements, negotiating of contractual matters, and preparing a variety of commercial agreements for small and medium size businesses.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Madeleine obtained her bachelor’s degree from McMaster University in 2019, and her certificate in Advanced Wine and Beverage Business Management from George Brown College in 2020. She then obtained her law degree from Queen’s University in 2023 with a certificate of International Business Law from Bader College while working as a caseworker for Queen’s Legal Aid.

Madeleine’s educational background complements her legal expertise, highlighting her dedication to understanding various facets of business operations and strategy to best advise her client’s commercial and franchise matters.

Outside of work, Madeleine enjoys scuba diving, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
